How talented is my bother in law (henceforth to be known as my brother from another mother, or bro-mo)? A man after my own mind, he saw the $1,200 table my sister wanted to purchase and said “I can make that cheaper”, picked up his Makita and got to cuttin’ some wood.
Did you hear that, Makita? My bro-mo wants sponsorship! Two cute blonde kids will give an ‘awww’ factor to the tutorials, and my sister has great taste in furniture, just not in clothing...
2 x saw horses, hard tongue and groove saw boards to measure, countersunk screws, drill, drop saw, varnish, sander.
Trim the saw horses so the boards will fit onto the surface evenly, then sand them down.
Trim the boards to just over the size you require, we accounted for a 400mm hang and added a little extra for trimming a straight line.
Measure where the screws will go onto the saw horses, and pre drill and countersink the holes.
Screw the holes, making sure the boards are square using a set square, or something square, whatever.
Trim the ends of the boards so they are level, mix some wood glue and sawdust together to make a putty to fill in holes, then sand the whole thing.
The finished product, and a well earned wine:
