This week I talk Etsy, the search for traffic, a swearing Pinner and a Perth craft class provider!
So I started an Etsy store! I’d been thinking about it for a while, then I just did it one night hopped up on cold and flu meds. Usually I think through my decisions a lot more… do a little more market research… that’s what happens when you’re under the influence.
At the moment I’ve got some of the felt ball charms that I made for sale. (Tutorial here). I’m also really looking forward to researching how to make it work, and joining the WAStreetTeam to grow my crafting contacts in Perth.
In my travels around the interweb this week, I’ve found some interesting crafty things. I’m embarking on some research to find out the best options for sharing posts aside from CraftGawker (where I get a lot of my traffic from).
I found Tip Junkie on Twitter. She was a recommendation from Klout (which I talk about here) and runs a ‘Tip Me Tuesday’ program where she encourages people to share on her feed and to her site because she’s just nice. So I shared a post, and read two other shared blogs and commented on them in the spirit of the ethos of Tip Me Tuesday.
On the business side of things, I’m going to monitor my traffic, see if I get any click throughs (if my post gets shared on her weekly newsletter). On the non-business side of things, I love the idea, and I will it to my own ‘If I get a million hits’ strategy to help other bloggers.
Coincidentally, in a Tip Junkie newsletter I found a Pinner of the week in ‘A Girl & A Glue Gun’. What an awesome name, why didn’t I think of that? She labels her pin boards ‘girl crap’, ‘camping crap’, ‘sewing crap’, you get the gist. Love it!!
Finally, I found Craft Bound this week and did a little dance. Craft Bound is a Perth based provider of workshops for crafty people to learn new skills and have fun. ! I can’t wait to join one of their workshops!
It's all coming up craft!
