Feathers, they’re so in right now. Make these lightweight feather earrings with a little spray paint and some glitter.
This one’s a request from my fave, who continuously sends me screen shots from the internet with the command, ‘Make me this!’
Sometimes I comply, usually when they components are cheap.
(for one pair) 2 x turkey feathers, spray paint, glitter glue, 2 x seed beads, 2 x crimp beads, 2 jump rings, 2 x earring findings, pliers, scrap paper.
2 hours (mostly paint drying time).
Trim the fluffy bits from the turkey feathers by gripping and firmly pulling away. I recommend putting it straight in the bin, because if it catches a draft of air… poof! You’re cleaning up bit of feather from everywhere. Leave about 3cm of the seam attached and cut the rest away.
Lay a piece of paper over the edge of the feathers to create the line you want to paint and gently spray it. Remove the feathers from the residue of the paint to dry. This makes sure they don’t dry to the cardboard. Wait for it to dry and do the same for the other side.
Once dry, use the glitter glue and a finger to spread the glitter over the painted section. Wait for the first side to dry and then do the same for the other side.
Once dry, thread the bead onto the seam. Fold the seam over and secure with the crimp bead.
