Would believe this project cost me under $7? Granted, a lot of the items I used I already had lying around, but the fabric for the cushion only cost $4 and the foot stool cost $2.70 from Good Sammy’s.
Which is good, because it’s basically a place for feet to rest. If your feet are anything like mine, that thing gonna get dirty.
Foot stool, fabric, buttons, 1.5m fabric, sander, white spray paint, ribbon, hot glue gun, needles and thread, scissors and sewing machine.
$7 for me! It would be an under $50 project normally.
Like my before shot? The dog was adamant that she wanted to play so I made the most out of it. Here’s one that gives more of a view of the footstool.
Clean, sand and spray the wooden base. Trim any loose bits of wooden trim with a pair of pliers and glue down if you need to.
Unpick the old, dirty cushion but don’t throw it away, even though you might want to. Sidebar, what’s up with calling it a ‘Quick Unpick’? Lies.
I had to pull out some truly gross, hard and grown looking filling from the cushion. I used gloves, and tried not to think about breathing in the remnants of other people.
Trace the old cushion fabric onto the new fabric and cut it out, then sew the cushion together then stuff it and sew the open seam.
Measure where the buttons in the middle are going to go, and sew a stitch from the front to the back of the cushion.
I used buttons from a button kit that I had lying around. I covered them to the instructions on the box and attached them to the indent left by the stitch.
Wind the ribbon around the legs of the stool and glue in place with the hot glue gun. My sister hates this part. She'd take it off if she managed to steal it from me. Good luck.
