Since I started my blog people have been sending me photos of their own DIY’s. The first thing I always ask them is “Did you take progress shots?”
All too often the answer is “No”. Curses!!
I’m always on the lookout for an awesome project that I don’t have to do myself… a little bit of a break in a week is quite nice. It means I don’t have to slave over a project late at night and get up early in the morning to photograph.
So when my fave person in the whole world sent me a finished project shot INCLUDING PROGRESS SHOTS and it was around Christmas when I would be too hung over to do any projects, I did a fist pump.
I’m guilty of fist pumping. I believe in bigging myself up. Haters gonna hate.
The materials from this DIY come mostly from Kmart, bastion of cheap homewares.
My sister (aforementioned favourite person) has always wanted to put some flamingos at the front of her house, but her husband is not in favour. So she found a way around it using a pot stand, pot and flamingos from Kmart and matched it with a bright pink paint to bring it all together.
DIY is in our genes!
Pot stand, flamingos, terracotta pot, white and fluro pink spray paint, tape and plastic wrap, plant of your choice. Cat is optional.
2 hours (mostly waiting for paint to dry).
Spray terracotta pot with white spray paint. Give it two coats and wait to dry.
Cover the base of the pot with tape and plastic wrap to keep it protected, then spray the rim of the pot with the pink paint. Give it two coats and wait to dry.
Put it all together! Pot goes in the stand, plant goes in the pot, flamingos go in the pot too and the stand goes by the door where the husband has to see the flamingos every time he leaves the house.
Cat! His name is Tiddles.
