I posted a 'before' photo of my telephone table over four months ago with the intent of wowing everyone with the 'after' photo a few weeks later.
Give me a break, I was new to the 'blogging'. I've since learned never to make promises until the project has been completed.
Although, I do wonder if fate didn't have a hand in this project. Would I have walked into Spotlight any other day and found the perfect fabric, similar to a footstool I purchased years ago, sitting on the shelf?
Would I have been as motivated after said visit to Spotlight if I had to stand in line on a Sunday while waiting for a very motivated staff member to cut me what would turn out, inevitably, to be too much material?
So, to recap. This table cost me $15 from the local op shop. There's another table in the front entrance that I've restored and painted black, so I went with the black for this project to tie it in.
I gave the screws a little tighten, and removed the cushion before sanding the whole shebang. I then put 4 coats of black gloss spray onto the wood before accepting that I wouldn't get the shiny, shiny finish that I was after.
Then came the purchase of the staple gun. OH EM GEE. You should know by now that I'm a tool and gadget girl. I unwrapped this bad boy and asked myself where it had been all my life. The recoil as I drove the staples into the wood of the seat made me feel like a member of The Expendables.
The extra investment on this project came to around $60 (two cans of spray paint, staple gun and fabric). The rest I had handy (orbital sander). Time wise, excluding those four months, it took a solid day to complete.
I showed it to my husband and got a 'Good job', which means he's beside himself with happiness that it looks so good. He's lucky I'm perfectly capable of telling myself that I'm awesome.
